PUBLIC POLICY

The ‘European Agenda’ can be seen as complex and one which is becoming increasingly integrated into all aspects of organisations work. Key aspects of regulation and funding linked to areas such as corporate sustainability, financial services, social impact and research policy often begin at a European level.Policy and ultimately legislation, is initiated and drafted by the European Commission and considered by the European Parliament before being adopted by Member States and transposed into national policy and practice. It is therefore crucial that organisations are well positioned to influence these debates at both European, national and regional levels.

The European and global funding environment can sometimes be seen as a daunting prospect to navigate through. However, participation in international projects can significantly improve service delivery through information-sharing and the exchange of good practice with European and international partners. This in turn can lead to showcasing a client’s achievements in a specific field and attracting world-class researchers to an organisation.

CP has been proactively developing relationships at the highest level within the Commission, European Parliament and Council for over 20 years. As a trusted partner this has led to the creation of a number of high-level platforms for both public and private sector clients including the European Enterprise Platform involving over 20 regional representative bodies as well as a number of blue chip companies such as INTEL, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and Tata Consulting.CP also founded and Chaired the Environmental Platform of Regional Offices – a pan European Environment Network – which became the official interlocutor to DG Environment for over 300 European regions and other sectoral organisations including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), actively driving and shaping European Environment policy in the European Parliament.
